Packing a Punch
To help back up that claim the Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance boasts a twin-turbocharged 4,0-litre V8. The petrol engine works in conjunction with a rear-axle-mounted 140 kW permanently excited synchronous electric motor. The net result is 590 kW of power and a whopping 1 430 N.m of torque.
It is a similar layout that we have already seen employed in the GT63 S E Performance, referred to by AMG as P3.
The powertrain drives through a nine-speed automatic transmission that sends power to a fully-variable 4Matic all-wheel drive system. A 13,1 kWh battery allows the performance S-Class to travel up to 33 km on electric power alone.
Mercedes-AMG says the luxo-barge can sprint from 0-100km/h in 3,3 seconds and it has an optional top speed of 290 km/h. Slowing the 2,6 ton limo from those speeds is a composite braking system. The front discs measure 400 mm in diameter while the rears are 380.
Menacing Appearance
To ensure you Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance isn’t confused for one with less power it gets a number of bespoke styling cues. These include an AMG-specific grille with vertical slats, unique bumpers with larger air inlets on the front and a rear diffuser. For maximum menace the limo rides on 21-inch alloys.
